Step-by-Step Tutorial
Preparing the Image
I’ve prepared a few images to demonstrate how to remove backgrounds. The process is incredibly simple: with just a few clicks, you can remove the background entirely. Before removing the background, the first step is to unlock the layer:
- In the Layers panel, click on the lock icon next to the image layer to unlock it.
Removing the Background
Now, let’s proceed with removing the background:
- Go to the Properties panel.
- Under Quick Actions, you’ll see the option to Remove Background. Click on it.
Refining the Background Removal
If there are small areas of the background left, you can easily refine them:
- Select the Brush Tool and set the brush color to black.
- Make sure you are working on the Layer Mask (visible next to your image layer).
- Right-click on the brush and paint over the areas of the background that need to be removed.
This will clean up any leftover parts, making the image background fully transparent.
Adding a New Background (Optional)
Now that the background is transparent, you can either keep it as is or add a new background color. If you want a solid color, simply create a new layer beneath your image and fill it with any color of your choice.
Applying the Process to Additional Images
Let’s move on to the next image:
- As before, unlock the layer, go to Properties, and click Remove Background.
- Use the Brush Tool again to clean up any leftover areas.
To see the difference, you can hide or reveal the Layer Mask. Click on the Layer Mask icon while holding down the Shift key to toggle it on and off, allowing you to compare the before and after.
Tools for Complex Backgrounds
This method works exceptionally well for images with simple backgrounds. For more complex backgrounds, you can use additional tools like:
- Lasso Tool
- Magnetic Lasso Tool
- Polygonal Lasso Tool
- Layer Masks
I’ll be covering these advanced techniques in upcoming videos. Finally, let’s apply the same process to the last image:
- Unlock the layer, navigate to Properties, and click Remove Background.
- With a few simple refinements using the Brush Tool, the background is cleanly removed.
That’s it for this tutorial! You’ve now learned how to easily remove image backgrounds using Photoshop.
Stay tuned for more advanced techniques in the next video. Enjoy the process, and happy editing! See you in the next video. 😊
